Fun with LEGO Tree House 31010

The idea of a Tree House always symbolises fun and adventure for children, the thought of having your own space high above everything and everyone else with all the supplies you need (at least you thought at that time) was every child's wish.

So I guess that's why the LEGO Tree House 31010 set won the 2013 Parents Best Toys award. Seeing that it was an inexpensive and small set I decided to get one for my son to play up the idea.

We decided to experiment and do something fun and creative with our cover shot so we went with an exploded view of the set to make it fun.

As you can see above, this set is relatively simple and compact which is good on the storage aspect. It has multiple play things that makes it fun and it comes with various little pieces and miniature constructs that keep kids awed and drawn to the set.

Usual tree house life essentials

Playing up the idea of all the wants of every kid and his/her Tree House are the small details of critical items like a Wagon, Telescope, a resident frog, a nutritious Pizza, a water bucket for the pulley on the balcony and not to mention the all important treasure map, gotta have that. Not pictured above but in the cover shot is a walkie-talkie which is a common piece you find in most other sets from the CITY range.

Now where is that treasure map? Oh here it is.

The play is extended by working in features that every kids needs in their Tree House lifestyle, privacy and the ability to keep anyone away when they feel like it.

The small hiding spot for the treasure map is a cool feature. I guess this is where there should be another map for the treasure map?

Must have feature for any tree house

The foldable and lockable ladder is another fun feature, from the picture above you will see a red box with clear blue single studs to represent water. It can be tilted over to pour water on any unwelcomed guests.

The roof portion is easily removable to access the main interior of the house for play or housekeeping, and though the pulley has a little too much resistance to rotate easily it does keep the bucket from falling.

Here's are some shots of the set all assembled in multiple angles.

And for that extra little magic here's the Tree House with a little bit of light with a 2x3 Light Brick. It adds some charm to the play on this set, in fact it could be used as a nice little bedside night lamp.

Time to catch up on the local 'Treasure Daily'
Overall this is really nice and affordable set and it's got the kinda of play that LEGO has set out to achieve with their toys. What I really like most about this set (from a parents perspective) is the size, as mentioned in terms of storage it takes up very little space and with the way kids are it's great for those times when you want a quick play with minimal clean up.
So with this thing it can stay assembled in the cupboard and when you need to have instant play sessions before lunch or dinner this is one set that's great to pull out of the shelves.

Details on the size of the LEGO Tree House 31010. Big on fun, small on storage space.
Along with other sets and toys it does can be used to building good habits where I get my son to clean up the Tree House before returning it to storage. With that he enjoys keeping his valued items where they should be but on the other hand chucks a fit if things are not where they are meant to be.

But hey that's parenting.
